Summary: Some four years in the making, VIPER-M3 3.2 had a troubling production schedule and contributed greatly to Sogna's financial dilemma and eventual downfall. A romance simulator with two primary and three secondary love interests, the game was beset by delays. As evident in early promotional artwork, the character designs were complete reworked sometime between 1999 and 2001. In addition, major story arcs appear to have been reworked as development progressed, and the game engine was completely revamped, replacing the venerable SGS system with an early version of the AGS engine later adopted by Erogos for their Love Fetish and In Series games.

Summary: Continuing the redesign of VIPER series games that began with VIPER-V6 R, Sogna quickly moved on to the next V series game, albeit the least acclaimed and certainly the riskiest from which to expect a profit. VIPER-V8 R includes the VIPER-V8 originals Friday the 18th and Demon's Night, but with the reassignment of Alien War to VIPER-V6 R, a replacement was needed. As Sogna was in dire financial straits at this point they hastily created and included Komachikawa Detective Agency, an incomplete game that was perhaps initially on the slate for inclusion in the future VIPER-M6 game, as a new cover series. This was done to give VIPER-V8 R some measure of star power that the other V series games had but VIPER-V8 lacked. Komachikawa was not as well received as Sogna had hoped.
VIPER-V8 R would ultimately prove to be Sogna's final release. It was not up to the challenge of saving the company from bankruptcy.

Summary: Combating extended production schedules, rising costs, and an increase in piracy, Sogna turned to a familiar plan of rehashing earlier releases. They had limited success with Galactic Guardian Guynarock R, the Island series, and the Classic Collection set, but with VIPER-V6 R they took the unprecedented step of redesigning familiar VIPER series characters.
VIPER-V6 R inherited the Double Impact and The Devil Came... stories from the original VIPER-V6. However, new Japanese laws regarding the use of underage characters in hentai games forced Sogna to replace the Afternoon story with the Alien War episode from VIPER-V8.
The new design for Carrera was developed in cooperation with Moonrock so both the game and VIPER-GTS animated video representations were identical.
